...and she's running and giggling.

What an amazing day today has been. It started with Tori (and all of us) sleeping until 7:15am. It was wonderful. Tori only woke up once during the night and seemed a bit uncomfortable so we gave her some ibuprofen and a bottle. She had a hard time settling back in her crib so we pulled her into bed with us. She went right to sleep and was actually relatively still most the night (unlike previously nights when she flops around like a salmon). It was fantastic. Sleep felt so good.

This morning we removed all the last pieces of tape and gauze from the IV and drain removals. It was nice to get those off. All that's left is the dermabond on her scar and that needs to stay on another week or so. It will gradually peel off on it's own. Most of the morning, Tori's demeanor was pretty pleasant. She ate well and walked around a fair amount but she still wanted to be held a bunch and wasn't too energetic.

However after her nap, our old Tori invaded. She was giggling, squealing and even playing chase games with Tessa. She is definitely back. This evening, she had a ball running up and down the hall wearing only her scars and her diaper...(and one small band-aid). A precious moment. It's absolutely amazing how quickly she is recovering at home. I can't believe we are only on the 5th day post surgery. Thank you Lord for taking care of her. What an amazing gift.

She's feeling good!!!!!

Tori likes to point out her owies.  She also likes to reenact how she got them.

Up until now, all Tori's owies were typically the falling down kind.  So when she

tells us about her new scars, she reenacts falling down.  Confusion is so cute.

For the next 6-8 weeks, as she recovers more and more it's going to be hard to remember not to pick her up from from underneath her arms. But that sternum needs to continue to fuse together and until it's fully healed, we have to protect her ribcage from being stressed at all.
