Praise the Lord...we are HOME!!!!!

This morning started early with vital checks, meds and a weigh in at 4:45am.  Then at 6:30am it was off to the 1st floor for an X-ray.  A few hours later we had the ultrasound of her heart.  Our cardiologist, Dr. Kyser made it to the room just in time for this.  He said her heart looks great and is amazed how much smaller the left chamber of her heart already is.  Since it is no longer receiving extra blood it's almost back to a normal size.  He remarked that it never ceases to amaze him how quickly kids' hearts respond.  It was great news.  Shortly there after we finally got out the IV that was still in her neck.  Tori fell asleep on me while I was talking about home care with our cardio case manager.  She had a short nap and awoke to Tessa and Aaron arriving at 11:45 to take us home.  Such a good feeling.  We packed up, stopped by the pharmacy and got in our car to come home.  Once we were all buckled in Tessa said a sweet prayer, thanking God for healing Tori and for letting her come home.

Tori is still quite mellow but started making some of her sweet little sounds on the drive home.  Tori spent most of the night and day in my arms and even though we are home wants to be held most of the time.  It looks like I'll be doing things one handed for a while and that is okay.  She's still a bit weak on her legs.  It's been several days since she's walked.  Earlier at the hospital she tried standing and was a bit wobbly.  Since we've been home she attempted a few steps and we saw the biggest grin since her surgery.  Freedom feels good.

The doctors say that toddlers are pretty good at managing their own activity level during recovery.  We saw a bit of that today after lunch.  Tori was sitting on the floor, playing by my feet when she just leaned over and put her head down.  Time for a nap!  Sweet little girl.
