Here's a few photos of our day touring around Beijing yesterday. It was rough having to go non-stop after such a long flight, but it's forcing us to stay awake and adjust to Beijing time. Tessa was a trooper. She made it all the way up until the bus ride to dinner. Aaron carried her into the restaurant then she fell right back asleep on Christina's lap and was dead to the world through the whole dinner. After dinner we carried her back on the bus where and up to the room and she managed to stay asleep as we changed her into PJ's. She was out like a light before we could say goodnight...that is until 4:00am this morning when she woke up hungry and asked what we had for dinner the night before.
Another early start to a long day. Today's agenda is church, lunch, a jade factory, the Great Wall, dinner and then an acrobatic show. Probably some sort of Shaolin exhibition. Maybe we'll see Jackie Chan.
Gotta go eat breakfast. We'll update more later.
At Tianenman Gate
Tessa and Aaron posing at the political center of China. This is the spot where you see soldiers and polite school children parade in front of the Chinese President while he waves and smiles.
This was the first of many times during the day when perfect strangers asked to have their picture taken with Tessa. Apparetnly blonde haired, blue eyed girls are a rare sight. Wherever we went, she drew people like moths to a flame. Even if Christina was holding her, people would line up behind us and stare at Tessa. Crazy. It was all harmless and the people were very kind. Just painfully curious. She was a champ putting up with all the attention considering she doesn't even like us taking her photo. We'll have to post some more funny pictures and videos of these moments. Stay tuned.
Here we are in the first courtyard of the Forbidden City. The name doesn't really apply anymore so they call it the Palace Museum.
