The Breathing Tube is Out!!!!

It's was a little discouraging this morning as they had to continue to sedate Tori because the respiratory specialist was tied up with other things and not able to come take the breathing tube out.  Tori was a bit mad every time she came to, which made keeping her lying on her back difficult. They did change out one of her drains to make things more comfortable and portable.

Then finally at about 9:30am they removed the breathing tube and the NG (nasal gastric) tube. She is breathing well on her own and only needing small amounts of oxygen through the nose. She is still pretty sedated. Here's hoping we can hold her soon. Thank you for your continued prayers. These pictures are a little less scary.  You can still see Tori's chest incision, but there's not as many things on her face.  Sorry for the startling images we sent out yesterday.  We had been prepared for all the tubes and lines, but we forgot to prepare you.

Taking the ventilator tube and nasal-gastric tube out

There's our girl.

Our nurse for today, Bonnie.  She's been doing this for 36 years.
We're in good hands.

Pray Tori can make it out of ICU today.  At this point, it looks unlikely, but there's always a chance with God.
