Seriously, it's been a longer day than expected, but it feels good to make some progress. We got the results of her potassium levels after her fist infusion at 4:30. Her levels were at 3.0 They wanted the levels at 3.5 so they started another drip that lasted two hours. When that drip ended at 7:45, we were moved over to the Peds Ward.
The rooms are bigger and we have an awesome nurse named Staci. Our room didn't have a shower in it, so Staci scoped out the ward and found us one that did. She graduated from NW Nazarene College. She actually moved here to work at Emanuel Hospital because she heard so much about it.
Both of us can sleep in this room. One on a cot and one in the recliner chair. The other bonus is that she's only connected to her pulse oximeter on her big toe. All the other diagnostic lead lines are now hooked to a little wireless box that moves with her. That makes the cable tangle a little less annoying. They only check her blood pressure every four hours now.
Tori is still having trouble feeling comfortable when she's awake but she's making progress. She wolfed down some more yogurt earlier and seemed pretty pleasant at that point. They'll run some more tests tomorrow to see how she's improving. We were hoping to leave tomorrow, but that obviously won't be happening. Be praying that Monday is the day we can take Tori home with her newly repaired heart.
